Sorry if there are some grammar issues, but my first language is Spanish.
Just the title, and I think there are two things working against me when it comes to the process of deciding 'I’m not going to read this book anymore'. The first is the need for closure that I have, not just with books but with many other things in my life, meaning, I must finish it, no matter what. And the second is the sunk cost fallacy.
I'm sure this topic has been touched on here on different occasions, but I’m speaking from my experience. Recently, I started reading “The Stand” by Stephen King after many people told me it was one of his best works, that I would enjoy it, and well, I started it, and after reading almost forty percent of it, I couldn't stand it anymore. Even though I really like Stephen King's writing style, his attention to characters, the setting, and how he develops the story, in this specific book it felt overwhelming, even though it’s a topic I enjoy—apocalyptic world, forces of good versus evil, etc.
So, after two weeks of having put the book down, I find myself reading other books and thinking why I abandoned The Stand, and it really bothers me, because when I was reading it, I kept thinking, “God, I should be reading something else that I enjoy”, “I’m wasting my time”, “why the hell am I still reading this?” and now I find myself thinking, 'Why did i leave the book? “Maybe after a few more pages it got better”, “maybe it wasn’t the right time to read that book”, and those are the two thoughts that play in my head that I can’t seem to control.
I’ve had similar experiences with TV shows, movies, and video games. I think my personality works against me in this aspect, because I’m very completionist, and even when I can understand the logic that not everything in life can be completed one hundred percent, my mind refuses to accept that logic.
In many cases, I must remind myself why I do this, why I read, why I watch movies, why I play video games, and the answer is always simple: because I love it, because I enjoy doing these things in my free time. But when I encounter setbacks like this, where finishing the book, movie, or video game becomes a tedious task, and I still decide to continue, I feel like my passion for it is slowly being annihilated.
From one point of view, sometimes I tell myself, 'I don’t enjoy reading as much as I used to,' or 'I don’t enjoy movies or video games like I used to,' and I think it’s decisions like these that slowly eliminate the pleasure I once found. And if you add to this the little concentration, we have nowadays because of so many visual stimuli, it becomes in an unique cocktail to kill your desire to do something you once loved.
I’m speaking from my own experience, I know there are many people who can focus one hundred percent on something, and they’re not bothered by leaving something unfinished because they feel that finishing it is a waste of time.
Anyway, that’s my experience and my perspective, if anyone has experienced something similar, I’d love to read about it."

Newish painter seeking C&C Hey everyone! This is my first dragon ogre I've painted for my new beastmen army and i was hoping to get some feedback and things I could improve going forward :)
I've been painting for about a year now, maybe a little less. I tried a lot of new things with this one, i got an airbrush for the first time, i tried contrast for the first time.
Air brush was used for the green and red base coats. Everything else was brushwork and some dry brushing.
Personally I am super happy with how it turned out, i think it's definitely one of my better if not best painted piece so far, which is exactly why I'd like to know what I could do better!
Appreciate your comments and advice in advance and I hope you enjoy my work :) I know I'm not golden demon worthy but I am striving to improve with each model.
