hello everyone, i was recently admitted to csudh for fall 2025 and this is the school im most likely going to!
i will be a cls major so i am excited, but i was wondering if i should dorm or commute from long beach? i don't currently live in long beach, but i used to and i have family down there so that was my original plan, but i also heard mixed things about the dorms there. i have a friend on campus and she's not liking dorming, so i wanted to know some feedback!
also, if there is anyone else who is planning to attend for fall 2025 as a cls i would love to chat! thanks guys~

Hi so I’m not even sure if this is the right sub Reddit to post this on but I came here for advice. So long story short my friend has this girlfriend and for the past 5 years I’ve always had a little crush on her. And it’s not like the attraction I have for other girls, I desperately want her but am too loyal to my friend to ever make a move on her or tell her that or anything. I feel like it’s a defect in me to even feel this way but today when her and her bf were over for a movie night we were having a few drinks and every time I looked at her face I would imagine kissing her and I couldn’t not think this way. I feel like it’s wrong for me to feel this way and I feel like there’s no possibility we’d ever be together but my feeling of liking her is so strong that I feel like In an alternate universe it could work. Maybe its just me but I just went and played GT4, 5 and 6 the past week and they just are way more fun to play. The cars all feel unique and different and the rally and snow races are so fun. When I go back to GT7, its like the cars all drive pretty much the same. On the other Gran Turismos, you had favorite cars for certain events because they really handled different and could dominate races, where as in GT7, I will try different cars and they all perform about the same in that class. GT7 has just lost that wow factor. For example, I remember the Calsonic Skyline was so good in GT3 and in GT1 or 2 th were was a racing MR2 that dominated in a certain championship that had Deep Forest in it and it made you fall in love with certain cars. Now some of those cars they brought back feel exactly like the others. Just my 2 cents.

I had a Withings Watch back in the brief period that they were Nokia watches - I loved it! Best part was the API access that let me automatically pull out all my data without having to go through an annoying export process.
I see the API still exists, but does it still work to allow me to extract my health data automatically?

2025.01.30 06:40 STLUK The paddle snobbery here is off putting and a bad representation of sport’s culture.
I love pickleball and one of the best things we see is how easy and accessible it is for new players. People can pick up a paddle, having no idea how to play and start having fun within minutes—which is partially why the sport has exploded over the last few years.
But honestly, as a long time lurker of the sub the attitude towards paddles in this subreddit is a turn-off. Every time someone asks for beginner paddle recommendations, they’re met with “Don’t even bother unless it’s $200+” or “That paddle is trash; get this instead.” Low/Mid range recommendations responses get down voted to death. It really gives off the vibe like you need an expensive paddle just to be “allowed” to play.
This kind of paddle purism doesn’t reflect any of my experience with actual clubs or players I’ve met across multiple countries. In real life, people are just happy to see new players take an interest and on the court, no matter what paddle they’re bringing.
Yes, a good paddle makes a difference, but beginners or even casual players don’t need some high-end thermoformed carbon-fibre masterpiece just to enjoy the game.
I get that people have strong opinions about gear, and that’s fine. But first and foremost the subreddit should be encouraging people to play first, worry about paddles down the road—rather than making them feel like their paddle choice is a gateway to whether they’re worthy of the sport.
Let’s not turn this subreddit into an echo chamber for paddle snobs. Instead, let’s make it a place that reflects why pickleball is so popular: it’s fun, it’s accessible, and everyone can play.
