Hello Everyone,
my question is not meant technically, you join the Legion by siding with Caesar and fighting for him in the final battle for Hoover Dam. My question is meant morally or more like: How can you shut off your consciousness enough to actually do that?^^
I am currently on my THIRD run. My first was NCR. I intended my second run to be "evil" but ended up doing the Independent / Yes Man Ending in the end as i could not bring myself to do the things necessary to side with the legion let alone let them win in the end. Now i am on my third run and im struggling again.
The Legion is undoubtedly the evil faction in FNV. Even with all the NCRs faults there is absolutely no moral ambiguity between the two in my mind. Following through with a strictly "evil" run has you do some of the most despicable things you can do in a video game and the Legion ending incorporates basically destroying everything and everyone you might have liked or helped east of the Colorado river including th followers you assembled for basically nothing in return.
Even if i went for a "egoistic power hungry narcicistic maniac" - Run i´d probably still choose the independent ending over the legion one as the latter simply has you become the LACKEY of the narcicistic, power hungry maniac that is about to take over literally everything.
At this point i am actually considering switching plans one more time as I appear to have serious issues supporting that bunch even on my third run, video game or not :D

I have been living under a rock for the past 20 years and never really paid attention to my choices for my 401k. It's setup through vanguard.
From what I can tell, my current mix is 83% S and 17% B.
When I look at my Investments, this is what I see.
JPMorgan SmartRetirement® Blend 2040 Fund Class R6 (JOBYX) but I don't really know what is included in that.
Honestly I am just completely clueless on what I am investing in and what I should be investing in instead.
I'm 47 and will still be working for the next 20 years so want to try and fix things if it needs fixing so I can retire comfortably.
Any help would be appreciated, I can provide whatever info I need to. Please be nice, I know I am pretty ignorant at all this.

4 years into mainstream corporate life having worked with 3 major unicorn startups across multiple regions, two bizzare facts that I have noticed are:
- Hindi is the most prominent language. People have the tendency to speak in hindi all across the office. It's wild spread from just random "coffee chats" to even "official meetings". The meetings starts with "Hi, how are you" and then moves on to have the whole meeting in hindi. The majority of the employees being from North India have a good hold on hindi, while people from south struggle a lot unable to keep up with the fluency grammar and speed. No matter how much we learn, we wouldn't be able to speak like a native speaker and crack jokes making people laugh. The major problem here is unable to bond and create a friend circle with your colleagues and boss. Most of the times you can't really join the larger groups casual conversation because of the language barrier
- Smoking & drinking is mandatory to create bond and friendship. Drinking is expected by everyone in parties and if you don't you literally are left out like a wierdo. While Smoking is almost like your everyhour insuline dose. The quantity of cigerattes smoked by these young people even in their early 20s literally amuse me. What's the craze with all this smoking? And most of the coffe chats at office includes smoking due to which if you are a non-smoker you can't literally join them suffocating yourself.

I have this setup since 2 years.
It has:
An OPNsense firewall with a 20 years old motherboard & CPU found from a dead pc junk I found in the street. I customized it and now runs a 10 Gbps optical fiber link to the WAN. The LAN shares a 2.5Gbps network with a Zyxel switch with 8 ports for 2.5Gbps connection. Used for DHCP, NAT, native ipv6 network for all hosts and an Unbound server.
A Synology DS220+ in raid1 with an external HDD plugged in USB.
On the lower floor is where the magic works.
From left to right:
2 Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q Tiny with a 4C/8T Ryzen 5 2400Ge and 42GB DDR4 ram running each XCP-NG hypervisor managed with Xen-Orchestra for VM management.
- 2 Linux VMs for internal DNS and load balancing
- 2 Talos VMs for Kubernetes workload.
3 Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q Tiny with a 6C/6T Intel 8500T and 42GB DDR4 ram running each a baremetal Talos node hosting a Kubernetes control-plane node that are also schedulable.
The rack itself is build from 2 famous Lack tables and 4 wheels for easy maintenance.
It runs on low power CPUs, on average during the day it consumes 8 kWh with costs less than 2 euros a day.
I am comfortable with this infrastructure and allows me to use it for any personal or professional use cases I can think of. And also, It is warm during winter so no need to turn on the heater.

very odd question, but before i got my pc i was playing skyrim special edition on console (before they took the actual cool mods and replaced them with mostly “creations”) and i cannot for the life of me remember what mod i had that tweaked the wildlife???
for example: the elk/deer in game, instead of immediately running from the player, they would stop and make an actual elk bugling sounds then run AFTER getting too close. also wolves would be a little more tolerable with how close you got to them.
any help with suggestions would be great as i’m getting back into modding pc sse!!!

2025.01.30 17:40 lgduckss The Prognosis Keeps Showing in my head
father got discharged a few days ago, I know he’s in bad shape but I was looking at his discharge papers and saw they said “>6 months” for his prognosis.
I don’t know why that was the reality check for me, even though he’s been sick for so long. I already lost a parent to cancer and I feel so numb and am already grieving for him. He is in a lot of pain and discomfort and he’s not the same person anymore that it feels so hard to just be around him without feeling like I’m going to bawl my eyes out. I feel so guilty for not just being around him 24/7 when I know he doesn’t have much time left, but when I’m with him, he’s quiet , doesn’t talk, and just is there. I don’t know how to interact with him. It seems like he lost all hope and is just waiting for the inevitable.
I see him for a few hours but I can’t stand being there in that room for longer, where it feels so hopeless. Then I feel so guilty for not spending time. Not sure what to do or feel anymore.

I previously got laser done on my legs and bikini area. Held up well with no touch ups for about 4 years or so. I’m currently getting touch up sessions now and also doing my underarms. I’ve always had a fuzzy stomach since puberty and have plucked/bleached the hair but am now considering doing laser but am not sure if the hair would be too fine/light in most places. I’m not really super worried about the upper part of my stomach, mainly just around my belly button and below, as those hairs are darkethicker. The clinic I go to uses the Venus Versa laser. I also was considering getting an at home IPL like the Braun instead. Thoughts?
