Last year, I saw a clip of Pete Davidson on the Tonight Show where he mentioned he started taking singing lessons. He said it was because he thought it’d be cool to know how to sing really well and just casually shock his friends one day by singing a song amazingly out of nowhere. Ever since then I've had that idea in the back of my mind. Like wouldn't it be funny if you absolutely nailed a song while driving around with someone or at a karaoke night with friends.
So I decided to make that my new years resolution this year. Obviously I don't have thousands to spend on a vocal coach like Pete Davidson so I started out watching YouTube tutorials. Then I found this course put together by Melanie Alexander (melaniealexander.com here's the link to save you from searching for it). If you don't know who that is I don't blame you because I didn't either. She was in a girl band in the 90s and had a couple albums that went platinum. It seemed like she had the credentials so I went ahead and bought it, it was only $67 so I wasn't expecting the world.
The lessons have been helpful so far but the main reason I bought her course was because of the apps that came with it. One of the apps included interactive lessons and allowed you to practice tracks. The other was the most helpful though. It lets you test your vocal range and practice notes which is helping me work out where I'm going wrong.
I feel like I'm slowly improving and I'm contemplating starting a channel to post either progress videos or cover songs. I'm not quite confident enough to do that yet though lol but stay tuned because this post is a part 1. I'll post an update in a month or so when I feel like I'm good enough to actually put something out there to be judged.

 | I haven’t been with Telus for too long but I keep getting calls from their promotion department saying they are offering a discount or trying to offer me the phone I already have. I picked up this one today and he said he was calling from Telus then proceeded to ask how much I was paying and I told him roughly what it was then he offered me a discount and asked which carrier I was with. At that point I just hung up cause if it’s actually Telus they should know all this info. 33, natty, 5'10, 180lbs been lifting 15+ years, two degrees in exercise science and have my own business where I train others at a studio in person and online. Just curious what tweaks I should incorporate going forward. Could be a bit leaner though I want to bring up anything lagging before I try to dip closer to 10%. Seems like the only logical next step is light gear use. Though I'm concerned about it nuking my hairline and my gal is also🤰 so I'd like to get all our kiddos popped out before I try a dose and turn sterile. Also sorry if my skin tone made you turn down your screen brightness. 🤣

2025.02.01 18:43 Some1inreallife We're 12 days in Trump's 2nd term. And now that airplane travel isn't safe and Amtrak is still underfunded, we're in deep deep trouble.
Last I checked, the part in Project 2025 where public transportation will lose its funding hasn't been enacted yet. But given that we're 12 days in, he might still do it at any moment.
At this point, it's starting to look like cars are becoming the only valid mode of transportation according to the government, but even that will also be made more difficult due to higher traffic, more expensive gas, and pricier cars.
America under Project 2025 is not sustainable. And this is just one reason out of many, many reasons.

My updated home office workstation is now complete with the addition of a refurbished Amia from BTOD. The quality of the refub is excellent and I'm hard pressed to tell it from a new product. I especially like the color (indigo) from their Pallet 2155 upholstery selections. I also chose to go with the Greener Option (because I'm cheap), which fits a used lift cylinder and arm pads, instead of new. Between that and the available 10% off coupon, I saved $90 off the regular price.
The only hiccup was that the first chair shipped to me arrived damaged, with a broken lift lever bracket. Customer service was very responsive and after sharing a photo with their production team, determined that the chair needed to be replaced. They will willing to cross ship and I received the replacement chair in 6 days (to the west coast). Overall, a very positive buying experience that I would recommend to others.
I'm still getting used to the Amia itself, as my previous chair had essentially no lower back support. Contrary to what some people report, I find the Amia's lumbar and upper back support to be plenty pronounced (I'm 5'7"). The seat is comfortable for extended sitting and the arms have a very wide range of adjustments. I like to have the armrests at a height where they support my arms while typing or using the mouse and I'm able to do this without any soreness. I'm happy with this choice and hope to be using the chair for many years to come.

There are two items I'm interested in from a seller. They both come with a $20 shipping cost but I know shipping them both in the same box won't cost that. The issue is that the "request combined shipping" seems to imply that you're on the hook for the whole amount. Like I'd be committing to paying up to $40 just for shipping if the seller felt like charging that. That doesn't even make sense. Shouldn't the negotiation for shipping happen before the seller knows they have your sale locked in. Anyway I messaged the seller for a shipping quote and they answered me this: 'yes i can combine the shipping cost. You can buy your items but don't pay. Request us a revised invoice. Thanks.' What are they even saying? It takes them 24h to answer to their messages so having a conversation seems out.
