2025.02.01 20:32 iiiiri me and my mom havenāt talked in 5 months
i blocked my mom august 2024 because of some really bad blowups we had
my mom is a wonderful woman, mom, and friend who unfortunately struggles with alcoholism very severely. sheās struggled with it my whole life and for most of my life was a very mean drinker. sheās been in and out of hospitals, jail, rehab, and detoxes my whole life. she was emotionally absent and i had to grow up very fast because i was often picking up after her bad nights or taking care of her through her detoxes or having to be the bigger person when sheād freak out on me
she was emotionally abusive iāll just say that. i will be picking up the pieces of her addiction for the rest of my life
so when in july 2024, she ended up kicking me out of the house for a week after a fight she started, i just stayed out and i couch surfed for 4 months. i slept in my car when it was freezing, i slept on my aunts couch in her living room, and my best friends floor. it was really difficult. a month into it, she had kind of a mental break which is such a long story in of itself but i told her off and that i was sick of it and that sheāll no longer treat me this way especially cause i wasnāt asking her for anything when i needed her the most
the next day she told me i owed her $500, she flipped out on me because her netflix got cancelled (found out the next day that she was the one that cancelled it), and therefore was kicking me off her insurances because all i do is break her heart and that we should part ways
let me say i did not take this insurance shit lightly because i literally never asked for a fucking crumb from her and went hungry every day for months so she couldnāt hold my existence over my head anymore
so i told her off, blocked her, and havenāt seen her since
my whole family has been begging and bargaining for me to reach out again. i tell them every time that if she doesnāt get therapy or help, we wonāt talk and they just continue to enable her
she hasnāt started therapy and she still drinksā¦. from what i hear from other family members she is still lashing out on them and talking shit about me
itās been almost 6 monthsā¦. her health is deteriorating and my family is super fed up with me that sheās still blocked
i figured i have healed my heart a lot these last few months and that iām in a better position to text her. i really am not bothered by the situation anymore but every time i get ready to text, i freak out. i have horrible panic attacks or fits of rage where i cry and cry and cry. my life is so peaceful without her and i am not ready to open my heart to her again
but will i ever be? what if i lose her to drinking and never got to tell her i love her?
i hate that she put me in this position, and i hate that she will never ever ever change
i hate that my family holds it over my head

WS had an emotional affair, mostly via text with someone at their workplace for a few months. DDay was 1/23/24
WS read āHow to help your spouse heal from your affair,ā and seems to have taken it to heart. Theyāre looking for a new job, they cut off AP, theyāre saying and doing all the right things, pursuing therapy, etc etc.
WS is really transforming their life in all ways - seems like it was a real wake up call for them. Meanwhile Iām justā¦ here. Theyāre doting on me and available to me but, the pain is still there. Their life is improving, and mine is by association and knowing the truth I guessā¦ but otherwise I went from everything being cool prior to DDay to my world being turned upside down. My perspective on people in general has transformed. And I was already a cynical person.
Any other books youāve found helpful? Not just for WS but also me as the BS.

2025.02.01 20:32 JoeyLoganoHexAccount Has anyone else used the CRST/CRSP prep courses from Canadian Safety Exam Prep?
Last fall I purchased the CRST exam prep course from Canadian Safety Exam Prep (canadiancrsp.com). I chose the premium package which comes with a 500 page study manual, presentations covering each of the competencies and a bunch of practice questions. My original plan was to use the prep course offered by my school but I chose this one because it was a bit cheaper. Looking back, I should have done a little more due diligence.
Most of the study content seems relevant but I can't shake the bad feeling I have about this course. First, the content is rife with spelling and grammatical errors that would have been picked out if the content was proofread even once. Second, some of the study content looks like it was copy and pasted from ChatGPT. If you've used ChatGPT or really any AI service you'll be familiar with how it "talks," so to speak, and I believe that is what I see here. Finally, the person who runs it claims to be a CRSP with decades of safety experience yet their name returns no matches on the BCRSP certificant registry and they have no online presence that I can find. Maybe they are using a false name but I don't see what their motivation for this would be.
So, has anyone else taken this course? What were your impressions? Was the material useful for you, and most importantly did you feel it adequately prepared you to write the exam? Please let me know, cheers.
