 | Hello reddit, I’m coming to you for advice because I may have jumped the gun and jeopardized the welfare of myself and my new family. I understand this is the Internet, so I may get judged for my decisions but in the end, I’m just really looking for some advice from a larger group than my inner circle and accept the criticism. Here’s my background/story: I studied fashion, design, and art direction in NYC and Paris Fr via Parsons School of Design Universities. (2017-2022) {MAY 2023} After I failed to either find a job in Paris that sponsored my visa/found a job in Paris that qualified me to earn enough to continue applying for residency, I had to move back to my mom’s house. I swear I don’t mean to sound entitled, but it really defeated me, obviously as someone who studies fashion and art direction you could assume I wanted to stay in Europe or at least get an opportunity somewhere else not have to move back into my mom‘s house I felt defeated, started picking up any labor job I could get/anyone that was hiring. After saving up enough, I bought a car started doing Uber and food delivery to save even more and this car now allowed me to drive into LA to try to get myself back in the art scene. {DEC 2023} 2024 was a crazy year, me and my mom didn’t see eye to eye, she was also dealing with a lot which made everything very tense… I made the decision to stay in my car and on my cousin’s couch from Feb-July 2024, sometime in 2023 I had met my soulmate and come April 2024 she was pregnant. “Fuck, how could I be so stupid?” I was making money, but I didn’t have a pot to piss in and this money was all through my own slave hours put in on Uber, nothing to do with my career. But the thought of ending the pregnancy with someone I loved so much was even more heartbreaking. If had to wash dishes and work my way up in a completely different career to support my family I would do what I have to do, and that I did; from August 2024 until October 2024 I worked busing tables at a restaurant, uber before and after my shift at the restaurant and early in the morning drive to downtown LA to work for Ant-Anti, a really cool brand. Through all these opportunities I was able to save a pretty nice chunk of money whilst being drained, I knew it wouldn’t be sustainable. {NOV 2024} my significant other who is pregnant with my son, expressed her love for the Brazilian culture as she herself is a mixture of Afro Latina and Caribbean and spent a lot of time in the black community of Brazil and loved it. I was just trying to find a place that could facilitate a new business idea, and allow me to move through my savings at a safer pace while trying to create said careebusiness idea. Yes I know sounds very American but I genuinely had an idea as soon as she brought up Brazil, me working in the fashion industry I know that most of the leather being used around the world for luxury reproduction was Brazilian and usually gets to miss labeled French, Italian, Spanish etc to increase price. I thought “How wonderful would it be to connect brands directly to traceable sources and to highlight that Brazil has the largest and strongest commercial herd on the planet!” {NOW JAN 2025} I could not have been happier with the decision with my fiancé to keep our son because he is the most beautiful joy I could’ve ever asked for, but now that puts me in a dilemma because all of the upfront things we had to pay for since we were actually establishing a life in Brazil turned out to be more expensive than anticipated, I still have a savings, but it’s thousands lower than 3 months ago when arriving here. I have my first textile convention (Sao Paulo) in a little over three weeks where I finally can even try to connect with the leather producers who I’m trying to connect externally to these foreign companies and broker the deals. But I know this business in itself would definitely take some time to get the ball rolling, if it ever did. I obviously don’t want to be put in a situation where I have move my family back to the United States into one of our parents homes, and I’ve bet everything on being able to sell leather and develop my own products at the same time, but I’m going to start running short on funds So now FINALLY to address my issue, you see too much on the Internet about learning these skills or those skills in a few weeks to a few months to jumpstart a whole new remote career, but what is actually worth the time studying, reading about, taking classes and courses, getting certificates?? It all cost money and time, in the end, you still may not have a job just like I don’t with my degrees. i’m interested in pretty much anything tech, coding, advancement of AI etc but is any of this possible in 3-6 months ? Since I know not anything is guaranteed, I’m just looking for you guidance and advice on what I may have the highest chance with when it comes to learning a new set of skills I can learn online that can secure me a job in the next let’s say 3 to 6 months rather than 0 to 3 months. I’m willing to do whatever it takes, grind endless nights for the betterment of myself and my family and like I said, I’m open to the criticism because I realize I may have jumped the gun and should have obviously done more research when it comes to bring my family anywhere. At the end of the day, though we didn’t have anything in California And I would’ve ran out of savings much faster given I could work paycheck to paycheck, but like I said, it’s not sustainable… I know it’s a big read and I’m gonna copy it just in case I need to edit it down if it gets deleted, but I wanted to not only share my story, but I have people see my mistakes and learn from them and also to show that I am willing to do whatever it takes, just a ambitious kid who hasn’t open the door yet. I feel like in this game, it’s rare for players to stay elite as they age. In today’s league, there are multiple players who continue to perform at a high level well into their 30s—guys like KD, LeBron, Steph, DeRozan, Butler, and Kawhi are all still playing at a 65+ OVR. From my experience, it seems like the best strategy is just to trade away players once they hit around 30. I haven’t played the game enough to be totally sure, though—maybe I’m missing something.

I’m gonna make the Move Over quilt pattern by Connecting Threads. It calls for 12 colors. I was planning on trying to pull fabrics from my stash for this pattern. I’ve got 12 colors, but I’m not certain if they work as a gradient. What do you think? Are there any that stand out too much or would you move them around at all?
