Omega-3 (ω-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids in fish oil have been shown to prevent diet-induced obesity in lean mice and to promote heat production in adipose tissue. However, the effects of fish oil on obese animals remain unclear.
This study investigated the effects of fish oil in obese mice. C57BL/6J mice were fed a lard-based high-fat diet (LD) for 8 weeks and then assigned to either a fish oil-based high-fat diet (FOD) or continued the LD for additional 8 weeks.
A control group was fed a standard diet for 16 weeks. Mice fed the FOD showed weight loss, reduced adipose tissue mass, and lower plasma insulin and leptin levels compared to those fed the LD. Rectal temperatures were higher in the FOD and LD groups compared to the control group. Energy intake was lower in the FOD group than the LD group but similar to the control group.
The FOD and LD groups exhibited increased expression of heat-producing genes such as Ppargc1a, Ucp1, Adrb3, and Ppara in brown adipose tissue but not in white adipose tissue.
The FOD reduced food consumption and increased rectal temperature and heat-producing genes in brown adipose tissue.
Fish oil may therefore be a potential therapeutic approach to obesity.

I have been feeling kind of stuck where I live, and I’ve been feeling this way for a while now. I am honestly not happy with my current environment and I dislike living here. I had the opportunity to study in Barcelona about a year ago and I loved it, I do speak a little bit of Spanish (Intermediate) and it has gotten better since I was there for about 8 months. I am graduating this year and was thinking of doing my Master’s there and so officially move out of my mom’s house. Even if I decide I don’t want to live there long term, I don’t see myself coming back to my city.
I got accepted in my top university and my mom hugged me and told me she is happy for me, however she doesn’t understand why I want to move out of the country completely. I can see in her face that although she wants me to be happy, she’s not happy with the decision overall, she didn’t exactly tell me why she’s not happy but she wants me to either stay in the city or move to a close city but not that far, she straight up told me “what are you even going to do there”. I was so confident with my decision to move out but she honestly makes me doubt it, I can’t tell she is sad and it destroys me, I am her first child so I understand but I don’t know what to do now.

 | So built a hump yard from a video tutorial and wondered how to properly use it. My guess is: Set the switches, hold the railcars at the hump and then release. But are you supposed to set their brakes to a certain percentage or ride on top of them and adjust the breaks accordingly? The yard itself has no incline to mage them halt by themselves, even if the hump is a 10% decline so they would be too fast anyway. I just had four 25 gallon column ficus trees planted in my backyard and I’m unsure of the watering schedule. The nursery suggested “deep watering” but gave no further instructions. Can anyone offer any advice on how often I should be watering and for how long? I’m in AZ. Also, would these newly planted ficuses benefit from any fertilizer, B1, moon juice? Thank you!!

2025.01.18 18:40 itsPomy Bummed that I miss the game, but don't have enough free time to justify the sub fee.
I was recently reconnecting with some mates from an old FC of mine because I haven't played in a while. These people I have played with for many years, they were kind of like a second family to me. I confided with them about identity issues, they were supportive of me, and made me feel good.
Anyways, I was updated on how basically the group had all but disbanded and how some of the folks just dropped off the internet. And it just upset me...another tick of the clock.
And I feel guilty because I'd be on-and-off for months at a time. But within the last year just quit outright because I got a new job with a split shift at a resort, where I'm working till late nights most days then over night on the weekend.
I tried to resub in the summer only to realize after my job and my other hobbies...I had like an hour or two to play (at midnight). Which really isn't enough time to do jack in an MMO besides quests...I believe last time I was just leveling Samurai and grinding beast tribe dailies.
I just miss casually existing, playing dress up with my character, decorating my apartment, shooting the shit in channels, joining PF groups.

I just got into Alpha 2 myself, and was very curious about the class breakdown for most and least played classes. I saw some posts from a while back about what people potentially might be playing, but was curious as of now in the current alpha phase what the breakdown may be! I'm under the assumption the most played are probably Cleric, Bard, and Mage based on what I saw in-game so far.

Hey all !
We've done a fair bit of work w photogrammetry (PG) and are starting to work a lot w GS and wanted to see if folks have ideas as to particular aspects of the photogrammetry post workflow -
- We've captured some spaces using April Tags to help RC's registration - say maybe 2 dozen around a large-ish room. With PG workflow we can just texture paint those out afterwards -- have folks done anything like this with GS?
- How about In terms of "remodeling" of GS like we could with photogrammetry,, i.e. add some photos onto the wall or change out wall paper, I guess "composability"? I suspect that some of this is just not going to be in GS wheelhouse
- Similar but different, combining an interior scan and an exterior feels very labor intensive if not impossible bc manually cleaning all of the splats on both sides seems messy - has anyone played around with any of that?
