2025.01.18 22:51 Mountain_family how do you know if you also damaged meniscus?
Hi all,
I tore my ACL a week ago (was diagnosed in an exam with an orthopedic PA). My MRI isn't until next week, I couldn't get in with a good sports PT until 1/27, and my appt with the surgeon isn't until 2/11.
Until I can see the experts, I am curious: how do you know if you also damaged your meniscus?
I had a fairly simple, low velocity fall (jogging downhill on a technical trial, unlucky slip) and was able to hike/jog out 5 miles after the injury. Swelling and pain were bad for 3 days but now I'm walking - limping a bit in the house and walking well with poles when I go on walks. I appreciated the brace for a few days but am not using it much anymore because it makes me tighten my lower back. I can bend it way past 90 degrees and have full extension. There is a little bit of clicking and popping if I do extension/flexion exercises. I can go up stairs normally but not down. Not much pain overall, just some minor swelling and soreness as the day progresses, which I take as my cue to ice/elevate. I'm a full time parent to young kids so I need to be up and about a lot.
Does a meniscus tear mean you have to be on crutches and in a brace after surgery?? That would be tough for very active me. I had a straight up patellar graft ACL repair on this knee in high school and remember that I was walking without crutches within a week or two.

2025.01.18 22:51 RHarrington89 Dice Gods were cruel last night.
Played 2k points with my buddy last night who was running world eaters. I tried the bridge head strike detachment rules out and they were ok but my heart is super heavy today after the way the dice rolled all night. I took 9 scout sentinels all with lascannons. Every single lascannon shot missed. Every single hunter killer missile whiffed by a mile. I screwed up and only took a tempestor prime as my one officer (why the heck did i only have one officer). He died the same round he came in, never gave an order. No orders the whole game. I got absolutely whiped. What a hard reset that was.
I hope the emperor shines on everyone else this weekend.

 | This is supposed to be our “Christmas tree” same thing happened last year (however we were slow to repot and it was outside in the sun) This year we repotted it, kept it inside (as the tag said that was fine) kept it well watered (as the tag said to) and the bottom half has still gone crispy. I moved it outside under shade for some natural light but we are about to have an extreme heatwave so it’s inside in the window there. Is it just from the repotting? Am I over watering? my family has this tradition of picking to go to a waterpark or just holding christmas at my grandfathers house, but this year we did both, or we just did games at my grandfathers house and we were going to go to the waterpark. and so before my family went to the waterpark my mom got a gift for me and my sister and it was just like a hoodie and sweat pants from temu but she put them into these gift bags, i was grateful but the hoodie material was this like jersey material and i really didn't like it and i know i wasn't going to wear it but j liked the sweatpants. so after we to the waterpark, but after when we were home my dad dropped off my mom at the front of our house to put some gifts under the tree which j know they wrapped because i saw them when j was getting some water at night. but after we all got inside all the presents had all my siblings names on them and there were none with my name in them, which j was surprised because my mom had told us before that we didn't have the budget for presents this year, so to say the least i was kinda surprised after she had said that and she put in all this effort to get gifts for all my siblings but me. so when they all got the chance to open theirs gifts my mom had me sitting there watching them opening all their presents and i tried to pretend to not care, but j started to cry a little so them i went up to my room. but idk if my mom just didn't get me any gifts or stuff because j told her that my friends were holding a secret santa and she thought j would get stuff from that, but j think she forgot that it was all a bunch of high schools holding it and all j got from it was a plushie, i don't really like plushies because j don't really like them because i have no reason for them, some candy and a candle, that j can't even use because my mom doesn't like open flames in our house. so yeah and also i do have a dad in my life my mom is not a single parent! but yeah i just feel like kinda weird because i thought my mom wouldve got me some presents if she had gotten all my siblings things, but idk if im just ungrateful, but yeah and all of this is from christmas 2024😋
