 | Found in a box amongst my Granddad's things. I would be really interested in knowing anything about this and what it's history might be. He was an airplane designer and spent some time working in the Middle East in the 60s to the 80s with the various militaries out there. Sadly I don't have any more information than that. The scabbard is black metal with a belt hook and the blade feels weighted towards the handle, the spine of the black is thicker close to the handle and although there is a sharp point, the edge feels quite rough instead of sharp. The engraving looks Arabic and is on one side only. Also found in the box was these old grenades. Any ideas? Would love you know a bit of the possible history, guesses as to age and if this was something practical or more of a ceremonial wall hanger. A little background, I am an incoming first year college student. Not my first time in college as I have already finished one semester in a private university (big 4) but wasn't able to sustain it bc of financial constraints due to losing one parent. We currently have zero existing source of income so I was forced to drop the semester. I will be independently supporting my own education this coming sy.
Current dilemma is I have only finished one semester and is lacking units to transfer to state universities or basically any free universities, additionally my grades does not meet the minimum 2.00 gwa requirement for transferees in some schools so my only option is to enroll in a private university that doesn't have any standard for transferees as long as they're able to pay and hope for the best.
I will be shifting programs once I enroll bc the previous program I had was just not practical for my situation anymore. Private universities have expensive tuitions that someone in my situation would definitely struggle with. Hypothetically, let's assume that I will be enrolling in a university where tuition ranges 50k-60k per semester (I can probably only get scholarships internally (grants, academic scholarships) due to finishing only one sem & having low gwa) and having only a few months left before the sy starts again, what can I do to have source/s of income that can cover these expenses including my allowance?
Currently struggling so if you don't have anything nice to say, just keep your silence.
Would really appreciate responses.

2025.01.22 16:04 Background_Dream1709 Chronic joint pain but not hypermobility or inflammation
I'm 17 and have declining joint issues (pain, uncomfortablity/stiffness and overly clicky joints). I went to the gp about it and she initially said it was something chronic but wasn't hypermobility, because I don't have flexible joints. But she later called me and said it probably was hypermobility?
It isn't. I did the Beighton test and I literally got 0/9. It's just the conclusion some higher up docter said.
The issue about it being arthritis is that I literally have no swelling on my joints at all and little family history regarding it so the doctors completely ruled that one out (hence why they said hypermobility).
Before anyone says I shouldn't come to the internet for this, multiple times the gp literally told me "what do you think it is?" as if I didn't come to the doctor to ask that?? I'm frustrated and concerned because I don't know what's wrong with me and no one is listening about it.
It's making me think it's all in my head and it's stressing me out because I've already dealt with self-doubt regarding my issues. I still need to call the gp to get me into a physiotherapist but I don't want it to be nothing and just waste time. I'm going to call them anyways, it's just gonna make me super anxious over it all.

Hi guys,
I’m not sure where to start but I’m at this stage of my life where I have to make a big decision about my future. Nothing seems to work for me as of now but it’s a bit early to comment on that or maybe not. I’d like for you guys to put yourself in my shoes for the next few minutes and tell me how you would navigate through this situation. I don’t know why I’m turning to Reddit for this but I guess I’m truly lost and I think I know what I have to do, all I need is some fresh perspectives because this is something that’s been on my mind for years now.
I’m 26M from Mumbai India and currently residing in Sydney Australia. I have a background in Marketing with a Masters from University of Sydney but now I’m close to finishing my second Masters from Victoria University specialising in Enterprise Resource Planning. This degree does help me get closer to my initial goal of applying for PR here in Australia. Although, I have been away from home since the last 4 years now which is a lot especially during my formative years of my life and career. I’ve worked multiple and various part-time jobs in Australia - my true passion I feel has always been Marketing as I’ve been vested in it as long as I remember. I’ve tried reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn, applied for jobs on LinkedIn/Seek/Indeed. I’ve worked on my Resume every year or hell even every couple of months because I always doubted that my Resume was the problem. I’ve done multiple interviews for part-time positions and none of them have really worked in my favour. Something or the other always goes wrong. I’ve even had employers tell me that I’m a strong candidate and that they have no doubts about my potential yet I struggled to find a part-time role in the Marketing industry or something even remotely close to it. I’m finishing up in April and have been networking on LinkedIn mostly to reach out to potential employers and recruiters for full-time opportunities but haven’t had solid luck so far. I’ll keep pushing for as long as I’m able to. I’ve realised I’ve got two options but on a closer look it’s only one -
Keep networking, and land something full-time with decent pay and learning opportunities by April/May or head back and join the family business. I’m not going to delve deep into this but I know I have a shot at becoming something back home and prove myself right for once so that I can be proud of myself and my efforts. Over here, I’ve got to do everything from scratch which I don’t mind but my family sees it as something that’s unnecessary considering I’ve got the opportunities and platform to do so back home with ease. I regret being in Australia for 4 years and not getting much out of it. I’ve paid insane amount of money in tuition fees and I feel guilty that I couldn’t do much about it to be financially independent or even repay my Dad. I feel like I can write a book about this issue I face but I don’t want to take too much of your time if you’re still here reading this. What would you do if you were in my place?

I've only worked at chilis for a little over a month and already I'm being treated like I'm not a human I have a manager who hates me for absolutely no reason I'm constantly getting yelled at by her I'm scared to even ask her if she can clock me in I will ask her for help she will look at me with this hateful look scoff and then turn back to the kitchen. Last pay period she gave me a shift out of availability I told her and another manger because I knew I would be ignored I just wanted proof I told her over hot schedules the other manger fixed it then the next morning I got an email saying she had changed my schedule when I went to look my schedule was wiped clean not a single shift because she fucked up not me. The servers constantly yell at me over and over I'll be in the kitchen and I can hear them talking about me and saying horrible things not just about work I've reported over and over nothing is being done now there's a guy at work who keeps feeling me up every day I've reported to that manger because my coworkers told me she takes that seriously and now guess what he's still doing it and on top of that I'm not being forced to train him because he wants a position with me great. I cry every day over this stupid job I'm never treated like a person it's ruining my mental health nobody will help me the other nicer girls I work with have seen him do it they've told the mangers too but none of them seem to care. I have severe ptsd from being assaulted when I was in high school this guy touching me is making it so hard for me I want to keep this job because I'm being paid better than other places will around me but they keep taking my hours away. I've been picking up shifts I'm always the last to leave just to recover financially from them screwing me over again and again. Chilis take better care of your staff please it's not that hard I shouldn't have to be going through this no one should.

Hi all, I'm currently travelling around Asia and got the Canon r50 just before my trip. It's the first camera I've owned with a detachable lens (total novice here). I've found myself going to alot of events but the kit lens just doesn't do the job. I'm finding myself using my phone alot for the zoom. I don't need something for 500m away but something comparable to my phone lens (zoom wise) would be great. As I'm still a newbie so I don't want to go crazy with prices but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Why is looking for lofts so stressful. I noticed there are a lot more loft style places in DTLA with maybe 3 that I found in Noho area. I prefer to move to Noho just because I feel safer in that area than being around a bunch of homeless and also I’m trying to keep my rent closer to $2500 but that seems a bit difficult if I want a loft style unit. If anyone knows any recommendations for this style apartment close to my budget that would be appreciated. Everything I’m finding right now is $2900 for about 800ish sq feet TIA
