I finally got my visa approved and I’ll be reallocating to Edinburgh in March 😊
I already have an apartment and all the living arrangements set up (I’m going to join a person). However I would like to get some help specifically gathering as much Information as possible of things that I need to do/get in the first few days/week of my arrival.
I know I have to request my NIN, register in a GP but I bet there’s something else to do. I also want to open a bank account and would like also some suggestions on what banks have 0 commissions (or low at least).
I already have a bus pass, and know the city relatively well but I’m open also to suggestions of things to do , according to my hobbies (gaming, tv shows, geek culture, etc)

I've always been cloud cost optimising in my more senior and lead capacities, as head of cloud infrastructure or architecting..etc
I'm currently a PreSales Solutions Architect, specifically in the Infrastructure Orchestration domain. I've long lost interest in deep hands-on engineering work and have always been fascinated by finances, business and sales, hence what I am doing now. I've gained a lot of interest in FinOps and am wondering whether this is a "niche" I could pursue, as in a separate service all together.
How's the market like to your knowledge? Are businesses willing to pay for dedicated FinOps "experts", or are they trying to snuggle that in as part of regular Cloud work.

I’d like to have some photos printed on standard 4x6 glossy paper, and i’m looking for the cheapest environmentally sustainable solution. The darkroom I used to have my film processed has very reasonable prices and is easy to order from, but I feel guilty having them shipped across the country. I could have them printed at a local CVS, but their prices are triple what I would pay if I ordered from The Darkroom. I’m willing to pay a little more for eco-conscious shipping, but i’m not looking to break the bank. I’d love to support a business that values sustainably. I realize i’m not healing the planet with this one small decision but I gotta start somewhere, and I simply don’t have the time to do the research myself.

I (26F) am a daughter of two narcissists. My dad is the main abuser - financially and emotionally. He's dragging us through lawsuits for the last 5 years, evicted us from our own house, caused foreclosures and many more.
My mom is also my abuser. Since I was 10 she brought me into this fight - if i didn't stand up for her to my dad, she'd be upset. If i didn't feel bad for her, she'd be upset. I became a target for my dad at 12 because of this and lost multiple friendships, relationships because of his stalking and harassment. My mom only knew to say "just ignore him, hes crazy".
My brother (24M) has lived his life scot-free. For context, I'm the eldest daughter of an Asian familt - what a surprise the son gets everything spoonfed. My mom deemed him "too traumatized" to help when he was younger, babied him until now, and the only thing he knows how to do is buy designer goods and ask me to do anything remotely related to our family.
Yesterday the police came to the house for the millionth time in my life - immediately, my mom and brother start calling me and asking me to deal with them, while I'm at work. I think this was the moment that I lost it - I'm so mad at my family, at the world for giving me this sht, at everything.
If you stayed this long, thanks for reading. if you relate to this, sorry is not enough to cover years of emotional trauma. But nonetheless, I'm sorry if you understand. Fuck narcissists.

I have ATT Fiber, and they don't allow DNS change on their gateway/router, so if I want to use my own DNS i'd have to configure it in passthrough mode, and use another device to do DHCP/DNS...

I'm (25M) trying to move into the area, as in the fall I'll be going to SIUE as a transfer student. I've looked at places in Edwardsville, Granite City, and Glen Carbon and haven't found very optimistic places. I've so far looked at places in Florissant, Hazelwood, and St. Louis but everything is either outside my budget or has terrible reviews. I know that I'm not going to find somewhere perfect when I'm looking for low rent, but I'd at least like a place without roaches, mold, and broken appliances. I also have a cat (going to try and get her registered as an ESA) which makes my options even more limited, and because of that I'd prefer to not have carpet.
I'm trying for a 2 bed/1-2 bath place so I can have a roommate and keep rent low (preferably in the $500-600 range). I have a person I'm talking to at the moment for a roomie, but it's not set in stone yet. If you read this and are interested feel free to reach out!
I've made a google doc to track all the place's I've looked at, if anyone wants to take a look and comment on places you recognize, feel free!

I bleached my hair last summer and my hairdresser toned it to a nice ginger colour that I wore. 3 months ago I dyed it to a medium brown and now that colour faded and it's warm now. I want cool toned brown, or at least a bit cooler than this colour because my natural colour is cool toned medium brown. It looks super brassy in some lighting (esp on front camera). Can't go to my hairdresser rn because she isn't working due to pregnancy and I don't want to experiment finding another good one. Any tips are welcome. Blue toner? Green toner? Thanks!

Since Noc 12th my toilet has a slow leak that seems to be coming from the screws that attached the water tank to the toilet. I have sent in 5+ maintenance requests to have it fixed but each time they come and attempt to fix it still occurs. The latest attempt actually made it worse. There is leaking occurring in the back and front of the tank that pools on the floor.
What are my rights as far as being able to hire my own plumber to come and fix it and have them pay for it? I saw somewhere I could do this but the problem is that i have 2 months free rent and my rent would not start until March. If i got a plumber now would I be able to subtract that cost from my March rent?

Hey, I’m naturally pear shaped and put weight on my ass, legs and hips and have cellulite on the back of my legs.
I’m early 50s and going through the menopause, so HIT and running are now out.
I’m also going travelling again so often won’t have access to a gym.
All I will have is body weight (56kg) and some bands.
Any routine recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
