So alcoholism runs on both sides of my family. I’ve left the bar several times after downing 6-7 tall Jack and cokes or mules and I feel completely fine. I’m 5’3 and currently as of this morning weigh 162lbs.
I’ve always been open about this and told him this is why I didn’t really drink until I met him. I met him at 29 and I’m 34.
He’s never pressured me to drink. But my dad died last week. Coupling that with losing my job and not being independent like I’m used to, I’m finding myself wanting to drink more and more.
Problem is…it’s not easy to tell that I’ve been drinking. I act pretty normal and have even fooled police officers ( walking around. I don’t drink and drive). I make rational decisions. I will never drink and drive with my kids in the car. I also will wait out driving until I feel okay to drive no matter how much I’ve had.
My husband does not know how much I’ve been drinking the past week since my dad passed away. It’s honestly the only thing that makes me feel better. But I feel like this may lead to a problem, and I don’t know how to tell him.
Well, telling him isn’t the problem. It’s getting him to believe me. For example, as of this message, I’ve had 8 Jack and Cokes in about 2 hours, and I’m currently on my 9th. However, I’m sure you could not tell that by reading this post. That’s because I genuinely do not feel any different. It’s hard for even me to tell when I’ve had too much to drink. I don’t feel tipsy. I’m not sick. My lips aren’t numb. Nothing. I feel completely normal. Nothing is swerving or wobbly, and I do not feel ill in the slightest.
I’m worried I may be developing a problem, and I need my husband’s support. But it’s hard to explain to him what’s wrong when I just don’t feel anything and he can’t tell. What do I do?

I’m away from home for a couple of months, maybe up to half a year, with just my MacBook Pro. Back home, I’ve got a PC with a 4080, and I’d love to stream games from it to my Mac.
I know about Moonlight, Parsec, Steam Link, etc., but here’s the catch: I’m in a completely different country. There’s someone at home who could help set up the streaming for me, but they can’t do it every time I want to play something. I’m also not sure if it’s safe to just leave my PC on 24/7 for streaming, so it’s ready to go whenever I feel like gaming. Any advice on that?
For context, I’ve tried GFN (GeForce Now) already—it worked great overall! The problem is it doesn’t have Yakuza Infinite Wealth, which is the main game I’m looking to play. Crossover isn’t an option either because of AVX instructions.
I thought about going for a Shadow PC, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about its performance with modern games. And honestly, it feels a bit wasteful since my PC back home is more powerful anyway.
The games I want to play are tricky because they don’t run natively on Mac or through Crossover. Besides Yakuza Infinite Wealth, I’d love to play Helldivers 2 too.
Has anyone run into a similar issue or found a good solution? Would really appreciate any advice or ideas!

Hi! I am a social worker in the cardiac intensive care unit in Ontario, Canada. I've been in this role 3 years now (long time SW though). Ever since I've started we seem to have 1-2 patients on the ward who have experienced anoxic brain injury after out of hospital cardiac arrest. They're usually younger (under 65), after recovering a few weeks, they're able to perform their ADLs independently, but the brain injury causes significant cognitive impairments, usually around orientation and memory. They are never a ABI rehab candidate because their inability to carry over interventions learned. It's really challenging planning a safe discharge for these patients because they're independent with their ADLs, but their cognitive impairments put them at significant safety risk of living alone. We try LTC, but they're declined due to not needing assistance with ADLs. Specific group homes for people with ABI have 10 year long waiting lists. I've had luck when people have money, and they can afford somewhere private, but other than that... it's a challenge. It seems like once I am able to discharge someone in this situation, another new patient with similar presentation will soon present. I'm noticing there is a huge gap of services for people with these types of injuries where I live. I wonder if more people are surviving OOHCA now, and we haven't created the proper programs and services to fill in the gaps. I am curious if others who work in cardiology\CICU are seeing similar things? Have you also noticed a gap in programs\services for people who have anoxic brain injury ?

I have been working as a Component Engineer for the last 2 years and it's not going anywhere (First job I got out of uni).
I usually apply through Indeed because that's where I get the most responses compared to LinkedIn.
I have gotten a couple of interviews but still no luck. 100% willing to relocate.
Should I get my Masters? I have seen many positions with "Master's is a Plus" but from what I have read in this Sub, a Master's does not guarantee anything.
Or should I start improving my skills in Revit/CAD and increase my portfolio?

Fiz um contrato com uma prestadora de serviços, no qual a condição de término de contrato estava especificado um aviso prévio de 30 dias e pagamento do próximo boleto a vencer.
No meu entendimento só existe um boleto a vencer após a emissão do mesmo, o contrato não se refere ao pagamento da próxima mensalidade mas sim do próximo boleto. Com essa informação dei o aviso antes da emissão do proximo boleto, eles sempre emitiam o boleto perto do dia 20 e dei o aviso no dia 10.
Agora estão querendo me cobrar o proximo mês cheio, ameaçando protestar a cobrança.
-O valor devido não vai me quebrar, apenas acho um desaforo pagar por algo que não usei por um contrato mal redigido, e o serviço deles é bem bosta
-O protesto não vai atrapalhar muito minha vida, então poderia ficar negativado por um tempo
com base nisso, tenho alguma chance de ganhar algum dano moral/material por ter o nome protestado de forma errada ou é melhor assumir o prejuizo e pagar logo?
(sei que não tem peso juridico, mas minha decisão de aviso foi tomada com base no contrato, eu poderia ter dado o aviso antes, mas optei por essa data em função da informação, não estou tentando me livrar de um mês na malandragem)

Nu ben ik opzoek naar een baan en een werkgever biedt mij €2100 netto per maand voor 40 uur in de week...
Echter lijkt mij dit heel erg weinig, want als ik het goed begrijp is dat ongeveer €2200 bruto en in 2024 was het minimum bruto maandloon ongeveer €2445.
Klopt dit allemaal? En hebben jullie eventuele tips voor mij, want volgens mij mag dit niet eens.
