2025.01.24 14:54 JuatASubbyBoy Please help me figure out what's wrong with my DIY ultrasonic suspension kit and if it can be fixed
Hello,
I bought a few DIY soldering kits recently and have been putting most of them together without issue. This one was a bit more difficult with a lot of smaller components that were more challenging to attach, but as far as I can tell everything is attached fine. Although when I try to plug it in only one of the two LEDs turn on and the levitation mechanism isn't functioning. One thing I noticed is the power driver chip that's supposed to be IR4427 according to the instructions that came with my kit was instead labeled EG4427 and I'm wondering if that could be part of the problem.
Here's a link to instructions for the kit: https://www.circuitspecialists.com/content/745350/Ultrasonic%20Suspension%20Manual.pdf
When I plug it in only LED 2 comes on. I've tried using my multimeter. I've tried
U2 5 -> U1 1, LED 1 turns on U2 1 -> U1 1, LED 2 turns on U2 3 -> U1 1, nothing Res 2 -> LED 1 negative, LED 2 turns on
I might've tried a few others, but those are the main ones I've tried. I'm still really new to electronics, so I'm not sure why I'm getting the results I'm getting, but if I'm not mistaken I'm getting some weird results. Any suggestions what to check next with the multi meter? Any other suggestions? Is there a setting I can turn my multi meter to add a couple points to attach it to that should power it on properly if everything is connected fine? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Good morning!
I will be picking up a 2012 QX56 in the next few weeks - wondering if it’s possible to somehow add CarPlay to the vehicle? Tried looking it up online but hoping someone may have first hand experience.
Thanks!

2025.01.24 14:54 Alert_Sugar_921 Using US socket (110V 50hz) in foreign countries (220-240V 60hz).
I recently traveled to India (240V) and had to use one of those Amazon International adaptors. They were so loose-fitting that I had to tape or prop them up to keep them in place. Ironically, all my power adapters would work perfectly over the whole volt range (110-240V). So, can I install the 110V US sockets in place of the local 240V ones and be able to connect the appropriate power adapters?

2025.01.24 14:54 mrbrad595 What is the smartest month to be born in?
The smartest month to be born in is often debated, but some studies suggest that September might hold that title. This idea comes from a combination of factors, such as the timing of the academic calendar and potential advantages in early development.
Here’s how it works: in many countries, the cut-off date for school enrollment is around September. This means kids born in September are often the oldest in their grade. Being older can provide a slight developmental edge, especially in the early years when even a few months of extra maturity can translate into better focus, social skills, and academic performance. This advantage, sometimes referred to as the “relative age effect,” can carry over as they grow up, potentially making them appear “smarter” in a traditional academic setting.
Full Millennial Numerology guide here.
Beyond the school calendar, there’s also some research on birth months and cognitive development. A study from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that children born in late summer and early fall tend to score slightly higher on standardized tests. It’s worth noting, though, that this isn’t a hard-and-fast rule—it’s more about trends and averages. Intelligence is influenced by a mix of genetics, environment, upbringing, and personal effort, so the month you’re born in is only one tiny piece of the puzzle.
Interestingly, some astrologers and enthusiasts tie intelligence to zodiac signs, suggesting that September-born individuals, who fall under Virgo and Libra, might have traits associated with critical thinking and balance. While astrology is more of a fun lens than a scientific one, it does add an extra layer of intrigue to the idea of “smartest birth months.”
That said, the “smartest” month to be born in can’t really be measured universally. Intelligence manifests in so many ways—emotional, creative, practical, and academic—that tying it to a specific month feels overly simplistic. Plus, any perceived advantage might diminish over time as other factors, like access to education and life experiences, play a much bigger role.
If you’re looking for a takeaway, it’s this: while September might have some evidence backing its claim to “smartest month,” the reality is that intelligence depends far more on what you do with your opportunities than the date on your birth certificate. Every month has produced brilliant thinkers, inventors, and creatives, so no matter when you’re born, your potential is entirely your own to explore and fulfill.
